As the Congregation of the Mission celebrates its 400th anniversary (1625-2025), this paper reflects on the Vincentian charism and its origins in St. Vincent de Paul's ministry to the poor. The Holy Father’s message for the Jubilee Year invites Vincentians to renew their commitment to their foundational mission, inspired by the Apostle Paul’s call to spiritual renewal (2 Tim 1:6). The Congregation’s beginnings, marked by a simple invitation to confession in Gannes (1616) and a transformative sermon in Folleville (1617), highlight the inseparable link between preaching, conversion, and reconciliation. This study explores how these themes remain central to Vincentian spirituality, formation, and mission. Emphasizing the sacrament of reconciliation, the renewal of clergy, and the call to forgiveness, the paper proposes that true renewal involves both personal and communal transformation. As Vincentians embrace this Jubilee, they are called to revitalize their charism through hope, reconciliation, and fidelity to their mission.
