As the Congregation of the Mission enters its fifth century, this reflection emphasizes the enduring relevance of St. Vincent de Paul's charism in the life of the Church. Inspired by Pope Francis' words for the 400th anniversary, the text underscores the need for a renewed missionary discipleship, centered on Christ and close to the poor. The Jubilee Year 2025, marked by the theme "Pilgrims of Hope," invites Vincentians to deepen their identity through five key aspects. The first is to persevere in the practice of Jesus—living His message and continuing His mission to evangelize the poor. The second is to prioritize the “first proclamation” of the Gospel, awakening joy through a personal encounter with the living Christ. Evangelization today must spark hope, welcome all, and renew communities with gratitude and compassion. The Vincentian mission remains a dynamic expression of the Gospel, rooted in love, simplicity, and concrete service to the marginalized.
