Dos experiencias únicas de ascesis en la vida de san Vicente de Paúl

Este artículo estudia la dimensión ascética de la vida espiritual de san Vicente de Paúl, situándola en el marco más amplio de la teología espiritual cristiana. Apoyándose en autores clásicos como Adolphe Tanquerey y Charles André Bernard, distingue la ascética como la respuesta libre del ser humano a la iniciativa de Dios y la mística como la acción gratuita de Dios en favor de la humanidad. Desde esta perspectiva teológica, el estudio analiza dos episodios significativos de la vida de san Vicente —su aceptación silenciosa de una injusta acusación de robo y otra experiencia decisiva de ascética voluntaria— como expresiones concretas de la ascética evangélica. Más que prácticas extraordinarias, estos acontecimientos manifiestan una libertad interior modelada por la humildad, la confianza en la Providencia divina y la configuración con Cristo. El artículo concluye que la ascética ocupa un lugar central en la espiritualidad vicenciana, preparando al misionero para servir a los pobres con auténtica caridad y perseverancia.
