Prière Vincentienne, Prêtre de la Mission, Homme d'Oraison, Communautés d’aujourd’huiAbstract
This paper explores the integral role of prayer in the life and mission of saint Vincent de Paul, contrasting the popular image of him as merely a man of action. It highlights how prayer was central to Saint Vincent’s work, shaping his charitable actions and grounding his dedication to serving the poor. The article emphasizes the duality of Saint Vincent's life, balancing contemplation and action. Saint Vincent's approach to prayer, deeply rooted in humility and a constant seeking of God's will, was vital for the survival and efficacy of the Congregation of the Mission (CM) and the Daughters of Charity. Saint Vincent viewed prayer as essential for spiritual vitality, offering guidance, renewal, and a clear understanding of God's desires. The article concludes by discussing the contemporary application of Vincentian prayer, underscoring its necessity for sustaining Vincentian communities and missions today.
