Saint Vincent de Paul (1581-1660) est apparu comme une figure centrale dans la France du XVIIe siècle, une époque marquée par des réformes religieuses et des transformations sociales à la suite du Concile de Trente. En tant que prêtre, il a consacré sa vie à la pastorale, à la formation du clergé et aux œuvres caritatives, fondant la Congrégation de la Mission et les Filles de la Charité. Sa spiritualité et son leadership ont été profondément influencés par le paysage sociopolitique, notamment le gallicanisme et la relation entre l'Église et l'État. Malgré des origines modestes, Vincent est devenu conseiller de la monarchie française et a joué un rôle crucial dans les réformes ecclésiastiques. Son abondante correspondance et ses conférences permettent de mieux comprendre sa vision théologique et son approche pratique du ministère. Cette étude explore l'héritage de Vincent de Paul dans le contexte plus large du renouveau catholique du XVIIe siècle, en soulignant ses contributions à l'éducation, à l'organisation et à l'action sociale de l'Église, qui continuent à façonner la spiritualité vincentienne aujourd'hui.
