In commemorating the 400th anniversary of Saint Louise de Marillac's "Light of Pentecost," we explore the Eucharist's significance for her, particularly in relation to the Incarnation and as a cherished inheritance. Louise's faith journey, marked by loneliness, was profoundly influenced by notable spiritual figures and movements, shaping her deep prayer life and dedication to virtues like humility, simplicity, and charity. The pivotal "Light of Pentecost" experience transformed her spiritual path, leading her to collaborate closely with Vincent de Paul in charitable Works. In the 17th century, many Catholics misunderstood the Eucharist, but Louise, educated at the Royal Monastery of Poissy, developed a profound devotion to it. She emphasized proper dispositions for receiving Communion and Eucharistic adoration, reflecting a deep understanding uncommon for her time. For Louise, the Incarnation was driven by divine love, compelling her to emulate Jesus' humanity in simplicity and charity, seeing His life as a testament to God's boundless love.
