La Fundamentación Bíblica en las Reglas Comunes de la Congregación de la Misión

This article explores the biblical foundations of the Common Rules of the Congregation of the Mission, written by Saint Vincent de Paul and officially presented in 1658. Divided into three sections, the study first examines Vincent’s deep relationship with Scripture and how it shaped his spirituality and mission. The second section analyses the twelve chapters of the Common Rules, highlighting the explicit and implicit biblical citations that structure Vincent’s teaching. The final part reflects on how these Rules can still be lived today as a guide for Vincentian identity and mission. The article shows that for Vincent, the Word of God was not merely a source of personal edification but a transformative power for evangelization, especially among the poor. His famous phrase, “Jesus Christ is the Rule of the Mission,” affirms that biblical witness remains central. Though current Constitutions date from 1984, the Common Rules retain enduring spiritual and theological relevance.
