La dimensione contemplativa della nostra spiritualità

Cette étude soutient qu'un missionnaire qui se consacre à l'évangélisation et au service des pauvres est un homme de contemplation. Certains ont souvent cru qu'une certaine assiduité au travail ne pouvait se marier avec une vision contemplative des choses et de la vie. Cependant, la vie active et la vie contemplative ne s'excluent pas mutuellement. Il est impossible aujourd'hui de penser à structurer une activité missionnaire sans y inclure la dimension contemplative. Et comment articuler action et contemplation ? Dans le court espace de cette réflexion, j'essaierai de mettre en évidence la fécondité de l'indication de l'AG 2022, qui attribue la primauté, dans le domaine de la spiritualité, à la redécouverte de la dimension contemplative dans nos vies. Dans les années 50, la spiritualité vincentienne a été définie comme une "spiritualité de l'action". Cette expression visait à qualifier l'engagement du chrétien dans le monde. La formule, passée de mode jusque dans les années 1970, se prêtait cependant à des interprétations ambiguës, si bien que Dodin préférait parler de "mystique de l'action religieuse", Ibáñez de "mystique en action", Toscani de "mystique des pauvres", Maloney de "mystique de la charité" : "mystique de la charité". Aujourd'hui plus que jamais, nous avons besoin d'une "foi incarnée" et d'une "charité inspirée". Nous avons besoin d'une foi qui se traduise nécessairement par des "actions à faire". Tout comme nous avons besoin d'une charité qui naisse de Dieu, retourne à Dieu et devienne l'expression d'un amour plus grand, le Christ. Dans le zèle missionnaire, l'attention aux pauvres et le dévouement au service, un bien plus grand arrive : l'amour salvateur de Dieu.
